"Carers, friends and family are often
informal advocates, but if the right
advocate is supporting them, other
viable options may become apparent"

Client Scenarios...

Morag had been ill for quite some time, suffering from mental health problems and was often in and out of hospital. Her family were very supportive, and felt she should stay at home where they could support her. However, Morag felt it was time she moved out to try to build a life for herself.

During a stay in hospital a nurse referred her to Swan, and with the help and support of a volunteer advocate they talked about the options available to her. Morag now lives in a house with other people who have experienced similar problems. She now has more independence, with support close by if she needs it. Morag is more confident about her future. She no longer needs the support of an advocate.
